My Antivirus Protector is alerting me that there is a portential threat here: "HTML/ScrInject.B.Gen Virus"   ::)

This is an issue with a lot of different Antivirus solutions at the moment. You need to make sure its updated.

Everyone else having problems loading images from other sites when coming here, what ISP's are you using?
ISP'S??? Sorry, I have no idea what that means. I am very computer illiterate in the area of viruses and many other facets. I did a scan on my ESET and it told me there were 10 infiltrations. I deleted off all the threats. But as soon as I came back on here, it's started again. So must definately be something nasty lurking here. I'm now very reluctant to come back on here.  :o :o ::) Cheers.

It could be that you actually have a virus on your computer. There was/is a bug with Eset that reports viruses on webpages that really dont have viruses on them. See this forum: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=316216

Kerry, if you continue to have problems with your computer, please call me on 0731881444

Shane
G'Day Shane, My computer is functioning fine in all other aspects. It's only when I come on here, that I keep getting the "Potential Threat" alerts. ('WARNING! WARNING! DANGER WILL ROBINSON!!") Which only started when everybody else starting complainging of the virus. I believe I am protected from Virus it's just that it's warning me that there's something here. I don't get the message on anything else I browse on the internet.. Is that a  mobile number? I don't call mobiles as it's like a $1 a minute! (I'm on a really stupid plan)...thanks for that anyway, I will check out the link you gave me. Cheers, Shane. K.
G'Day Shane, did check out link, but all so way over my head. I'm new to computers, don't know the lingo, never had a virus. I'm at that point where I'm too scared to come on this site anymore. Could you ring me perhaps, to sort it out? Any advice would be much appreciated.  My number is 042 575 5269 anytime after 7:00 pm.

Sorry mate, I didn't get this message in time. I can arrange to call you tomorrow night if you're available.
Shane

Firefox is my choice. But every now and then it still gets caught up with old cache.

Have been doing a bit of testing with this on a virtual machine. The virtual machine is basically a software PC for those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about. This machine was a basic XP build with no other applications except a virus scanner loaded. It's something I can reset in a couple of minutes if it gets infected.

I navigated Internet Explorer to www.buga.com.au and was instantly redirected to another website. It appears it was an old link however that no longer works as I got an error message in my browser window. After canceling that every time I went to the homepage I was not redirected and had no problems. I then scanned the entire machine and found no virus infected files.

I then reset the virtual machine but could not get it to occur again.

As Shane has said the site is not infected. The virus infections are coming from the websites you are being redirected to. If you close the redirected website window or tab before it loads you should be fine.

I would say that one of the DNS sites that stores the site information has been compromised and when this particular DNS provider is accessed we get redirected. If another provider is accessed that is not compromised you won't have an issue and you can get to the homepage as per normal.

There's not a lot we can do about it other than Shane advising the site hosts of the issue so they can investigate having the offending DNS provider's cache purged if it can be tracked.

In the meantime if you save the following link in your 'favourites' if you are using IE and in your 'bookmarks' if you are using Firefox you will go straight to the forum each time which will bypass the main page and the redirection issue. You should be able to get wherever you need to go from the forum main page.

http://www.buga.com.au/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=2

Of course this doesn't help new people to the site if they access the homepage for the first time and are redirected to a website that infects their machines which is really irritating as we don't want to have the site blacklisted.

I just logged on using my iPad and it redirected me to an adult matchmaking site.
I cleared history and cookies and cache and reloaded the Buga site and it's working
Normal.

The IPad is like a virtual machine in that it can be easily rebooted and clears the memory.
So something out in cyberspace is obviously redirecting traffic to  sites with nasty content
Or content of shall we say a dubious nature.

Not sure who or what is causing it or if it's someone deliberately trying to hack the site.

Cheers

Ian

well Iv just spent most of last night and today installing Avast, ad-aware, firefox and  running checks, deleting cookies, scanning for issues, deleting IE9 and still, if I'm using IE it fails to load BUGA - because Avast is killing the redirection.

Had a few hick ups withe firefox at first, but seems to be working OK now.

I can't find where its getting the re directions from, and other PCs arent doing it - so BUGAed if I know whats going on :)

G'day

Are running XP?
If so try resetting the winsock with a little free utility called WinSock XP Fix 1.2.
Whenever I have Internet problems I run it. It is a great little tool.
The problem I have is that most of my stories end with... and that is why I am not allowed to go back there!
