New Front end
« on: February 19, 2012, 02:51:19 PM »
Hi all, the lower suspension arm gave up and now I am thinking new lower arms??  Does anyone make tubular or have any advice.  I don't trust the other one or an original as it obviously wasn't designed for the oversized V8 engine??

Someone said Jag front end, any experience with this as an alternative? :'(

Awesome, Thanks I'll touch base with you this week.

I tried to post a pic but maybe was too large a file.  the ball joint is still intact, it simply ripped itself a new hole in the lower wishbone!!!!

Just finishing pulling it all out this arvo, gonna get it all sandblasted and grab new shockies, ball joints etc etc.  I do plan on entering into driving events etc. hence the thinking that I might need to uprate the suspension?

Hey Steve, i looked into this a while back, and considered organising a group buy. There is a mob over east that seem more than capable of manufacturing what we want, the downside is that to get it right they will likely need a van, or at the very least a working suspension setup to get everything correct.
I was going to ask that they fabricate what we need, however rather than using the bedford stub axle, i was going to ask that they use a HQ stub axle (which is why they would need a van or atleast a complete setup to get everything correct as the angle needs modifying)

The mob i am referring to is:
http://www.mcdonaldbrosracing.com.au/tubularwishbones.html

check thru the website, they are more than qualified to fabricate what is needed. The main advantage to these is the ability to control caster and camber in a simple easy manner. Personally i'd prefer they be over engineered/strengthened

hey chris ive said this a few times and im not sure if your aware but  the later model standard cf wishbones ar 4mm instead of the early ones are only 3mm and i belive holden requested this because the idea of putting v8's in bedfords was being thrown around by holden. if you get some later model wishbones you shouldnt have a problem.

i too had a problem with v8 + early wishbones lucky wasnt doing fast speeds:( or could have been fatal.

cheers
ben

I never expected that they would carry the parts already. If you re-read what i wrote, i was intending to ask for custom built components, and potentially get a group buy together to make it worth the manufacturers while.

Hi guy's and Gal's,

roadblock on the front end, anybody know where I can obtain a right hand stubb axle for my 1971 beast.  Hoping to get to van nat's but with no front end no chance  :(  Craig had found one but was a bit different to mine (thicker axle)  any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
