Rwc are much different now in Vic. They changed the laws now and all licensed testers must take photos of tyres, brakes, engine bay and I think diff, gearbox and the bottom of the engine and must record date and k's. There is so much more too be done that there are no more dodgy roadys. Before used to be $88.00 including gst now it's around $330 because the have an extra 1 and a half hours of testing to do. That's why nearly 60% of road worthy testers handed in their licenses when the new laws came out because there is no room for error. It's a good thing though stops all these dodgy cars getting put back on the road.

Also Vic roads patrolling officers are highly trained in mods and requirements of all cars and are working closely with the vic police tmu department and have been causing a world of pain for modified cars. They are tackling all car meets, shows and cruises and putting a lot of cars off the road.

Also word of worming to all those running LPG in Vic, Vic roads and Vic police are switched on and trained well they are even checking gas tank dates to see if the comply and if it's month out or less that's a major defect. Not only do you have the hassle of getting a full roadworthy $330 and going to Vic roads to clear it, you will also get hit with a nice fine for driving an un roadworthy vehicle.

So everyone keep them looking clean, nice tyres and those gas tanks in date because they are not playing games anymore!

yeah but dont u still just need to get a roadworthy when first rego.
 then never again??????

its a roadworthy certificate every year here,NSW,, keeps shitboxes and unsafe ones off the road.
but there are still a handfull of shonks out there,
slowly being found and exterminated.
should loose their licences for life i recon!!!

should be compulsory roadworthy,s in the whole of Australia.
and spot checks at anytime by the RTA
keep this country safe i recon.

G;day

A mate was telling me that 2 RTA Inspectors rang him and then showed up at his workplace to inspect his recently registered Jackaroo. They were checking that the rego inspection had been done properly. His 4wd passed again.
The Inspectors were not locals and said they were in town doing random checks.

It appears that the NSW RTA is serious about road safety.
The problem I have is that most of my stories end with... and that is why I am not allowed to go back there!

Yeah that's the same thing Vic roads are doing now, random checks and busting testers. My mates dad is one of the head guys at Vic roads and always tells us what they are targeting. Us truckies are coping a hiding from them too. My mate ticked the wrong box on his work diary and a minimum offence is $660!!! For a simple mistake.

It's good that both Vic and nsw road authorities are doing their job a lot better but they are also hitting us car and van fans for petty things. My mates hz premier was put off the road for a chip on the wind screen, rip in drivers seat and rosary beads hanging from the rear vision mirror. That's all they need to make you get a major defect now it's a load of bull. Major defects should be for something like cracked windscreen, warn tyres, oil leaks, broken lights ect not petty stuff like that.

Yes at this stage we only need 1 roady to register and that's it but that one roady cost you a bundle and god help you if you get busted for an un roadworthy vehicle. You much rather live in nsw if you cop that.
