introducing myself
« on: February 19, 2012, 01:41:26 PM »
Hi All,  I am forum and chat illiterate, so hopefully this doesnt get lost in cyberspace.

I am 39 year old child who wants to build a radical machine some day when the stars alline.  I had a SWB when I was a kid that I loved until it came to an end with a yellow licky and not enough fiunds/priorities to hang on to it.  Anyway a couple of years ago I decided to get my priorities back on track and I bought Maymanns van in QLD and had it shipped back to formt eh basis for the rekindling of an old dream.  Hence the Mid Life Crisis my wife says I am clearly going through.

Anyway we have had a ball with the new beast for the last year and a bit with very little required aside from copious amounts of cash to get it running and registered etc.

Thats me, I think it is great that so many vanners are still out there, look forward to seeing heaps of cool vans in Pinjarra.

pedders have all the bushes you will need are you looking for wishboes as well? if you do a long post on this forum its best to control copy before you hit post as it tends to time you out and you loose the total post  :-\

Yes, Pedders have the bushes, but be careful.
I updated my front end with Whiteline bushes. They, according to Pedders sent the right ones BUT they were the wrong size. Pedders said tough. I rang White line and they sent a correct set FOC.

Yeah, i think you're right. I might get a few photos thru the week and put together a potential build example for mcdonald bros and hope they can come back with a reasonable price.

I might speak to my uncle first as he converted bedford control arms to suit HQ stub axles back in the 70's with perfectly even travel throughout the range which is essential. Any information i can pass on should be helpful.

If you decide to go standard control arms prior to tubular, let me know i'll send you to the sand blaster i should have gone to.

And if you want nolathane bushes, call Imparts in osborne park, despite being sponsored by Pedders, i usually get better prices thru a bloke there

welcome aboard Steve, good to see your in perth, I had wilkinsons (bayswater)  do my front end and suspension few years ago now but never had a prob, they also do all of my ex work's which was limo's . a little pricey but done right the fist time. cost me $400 to re fit with nolothanes and to lower a swb as much as poss, but like i said it was a few years agonow + i think i supplied the bushes, got them from rare spares i think.
You will certainly notice the difference your ride will be alot harder but alot more stable, I'm sure we were talking of a softer bush a while back, somewhere on the site?
anyways can't wait to catch up for a yarn, welcome aboard again mate! Dano
Can I go play now...?
