less chance of overgrinding, more chance of a nice small flat, level surface for stud facure to butt upto.... guess its the finish ones happy with in the end( not all of us have a masters degree in butchery ben lol )  ;)
;D  ;D  will pm you later today ,decided to go with your suggestion of headlight surrounds if you have any knockin around the block ...cheers

small question...

can i drill the bedford rims to match the hq holden?
by that i mean...  is it allowed?
i see rims all the time with 10 holes in them, so cant see any reason i couldnt get a machine shop to drill holden holes in the meat of the rim in between the original holes.

do 3 of them. the fronts and the spare.

yep skippy,s right there,
our green n white poptop van has rear axles and rear drums that have been welded up n redrilled to suit Holden HQ studpattern. just done prir to us buying it. by a diff and axle rebuilding shop.
and the spair set of axles that came with the van are welded up and redrilled to suit Holden HQ , the rear have been machined to let the studs press in square to the machined surface, new studs have been fitted, they even had new rear bearings pressed on as well, were packed with greese and sprayed in fishoil to preserve,
god knows how much the prev owner spent just on those 2 axles,  must have been close to $1000 or over...

so i recon get them done right, and you shouldnt have any dramas,
do them bodgey and who knows what disasters will arise.

maybe its just a bedford diff and someone in the past sold it as or thought it was a 10 bolt chev
van is on the front lawn and its beautiful weather here in wellington (for the ducks) lol
so will have a look and try a bedy spare wheel on it later though the week
weekend is out as have a van club meet
and the swap meet at trentham on sunday

moved the jumbo today and jacked it up
removed the rear wheel and tryed a spare bedy rim
it fitted  ???  had a better look and think its a 10 bolt center with bedford tubes and axles
have uploaded pic to gallery as for filling and redilling the front to keep my bedford wheels
the hq disk center is to small for bedy stud patten ...can we in nz use a spacer to get bedy rims to fit ?

You can as long as the spacer/adapter is no more than 25mm and it has to have a centre ring for the mag wheel
don't buy the flat ones on tm
There are so many people out there who will tell you that you can't. What you've got to do is turn around and say "watch me"

I've got a set of HQ to Bedford adapter plates. Ive also got a set of Ford to Bedford adapter plates. Strong as. They came off a van that was on declaration. I was thinking of listing them on TradeMe so PM me if you are interested. Cheers Gordon
