But it's only a three speed :/ does this mean different clutch but yea it  sits pretty much parallel with the handbrake

ahh sorry thats right, 3speed, must be a speco shift maybe?
 bolts to the back of the box .
 get an Australian 4 speed it uses the same clutch, bellhousing as the 3 speed.
and tailshaft is the same as well.
 easy change.

It days Holden on it so I'll get the clutch from hq-etc I think dad has a Aussie four speed lying around I'll ask but I don't like my chances I checked it has Holden stamped on the side with some numbers

yeah sounds like a holden 3 speed all syncro box,
a 4 speed aussie should slip straight in its place, only thing u need to do is make a new hole for the shift n cover the old 3 speed hole.
everything else will fit.
4 speeds are better thats 4 sure

There's already two holes in the floor one just after the engine hump and the one parallel with handbrake
