RWC - HEELLLLPP

Hi Guys,

After buying my 1st beddy 6 weeks ago it has been at Joe's shop in dandenong for 5 weeks and no progress was made what so ever after telling me via phone it was. i am now stuck with my van being out of registration and with an rwc for my xmas break and new years eve camping trip. i am shattered! does anyone know someone in the melbourne area that could be persuaded into a giving a vague roady. it was bought with a SA rwc but clearly the nany state we live in is far different to that of other states. 

any suggestions?

sorry to hear that. id say from my experiences y0u have 0 chance of even booking into vic roads before the new year.. far less finding a mechanic to roady it also:(

how about camping in the beddy in the back yard?

Just heard back from another mechanic - he said "if i worked all day everyday until feb i might get it ready"

I am so angry that a van can be sold with a rwc from another state and it be so faaaaaar from vic standards there surly should be some way to police this.

looks like there could be a van up fro sale soon or a long long road to get it up and going.

for the record i got into vic roads on the 23 for a rego

Joe is not what you would call a reliable person. OK for parts, not for mechanical work.

What are the issues for the RWC - replaceable parts, or rust etc.?

Just got off the phone with SA roads (their 'version of vicroads") and so they tell me SA is only state in aus that does not require a rwc to register a vehicle!!!!

so in other words iv been bent over and mounted buy this salesmen who tild me it had one. partly my fault for not investigating enough but i just wanted one so badly.

so at this stage the list is:

-speedo not working
-horn not working
-no reverse lights
-adjust handbreak
-demister not working
-windscreen needs replacing
-mud flaps needed lol
-l/h top and bottom ball joint?
-front bushals about to fall out?
-l/h inner tired replaced
-minor rust in rear doors
-both driver and passenger window tint to dark

along with other things that cant remember off top of my head.



sell or poor money into what seems a bottomless pit?

Shit, we've all done it. My first Valiant, I bought for $500, spent 7 thousand on, and sold for $500.

Most of those items look to be a time factor rather than parts cost, windscreen aside. Rust / bodywork is the thing that will take you into the thousands of dollars.

You need a sympathetic mechanic who will work with you, instead of take you for a ride.

Or sell it on ebay and look for a better one.
