MY BEDDY AND THE PLAN....
« on: September 05, 2008, 11:20:47 AM »
Engine
1JZ-GE 2.5 litre straight 6 (Non Turbo) out of a Toyota Soarer. (132kW at 6000 rpm and 235Nm at 4800 rpm)
2JZ-GE 3 litre straight 6 (Non Turbo) out of a Toyota Soarer. (169kW at 6000 rpm and 284Nm at 4800 rpm)
Depending on what I can get my hands on... Most of the attention is cast upon the turbo versions of these engines.
Although not readily available you can usually pick one up for a good price.

Gearbox
4 speed auto to suit.

Diff
Change my Borg Warner centre from 3.89 to 3.0 or 3.23

Tailshaft
Find yoke from Soarer and mate up to my original tailshaft

Body
Remove the surface rust and small bubbles that are forming in a few places. KILL KILL KILL!!!!  :)
Repair small ding in rear quarter panel and scratch on left hand side panel.
Remove bull bar.
Find original lower front section of bumper, weld lower lip back on to 'chopped' front.
Find an original grill and replace current 'chopped' grill.
Install a cargo door on the RHS of the van so that it has a cargo door on either side. (this could be interesting....)

Paint
Still undecided.... Nothing over the top.

Brakes
Apply my HQ disc setup to the front end.
This will mean carrying an extra spare for the front but I don't mind - don't want to lose the dual wheels on the rear,
they look so tough...

Interior
Haven't decided yet but it's going to be very nice. Will think about this last.

Number 1 priority is to kill the small amount of rust that there is.
Number 2 priority is to change the diff centre.
Number 3 priority is to put the hq disc setup on the front.
Number 4 priority is to find the Engine/Gearbox pacakge.

That should keep me busy for a while.

Jd  :)
