Steering coupling help needed
« on: September 20, 2011, 08:54:47 AM »
Hi all,
well, i got under the camper the other day and noticed that the steering coupling has started to split.  I went to the Nolothan site and found that they list a replacement part (N41070).  Not paying too much attention I ordered it but when it arrived it turns out to be 61 ml between the holes and 10 ml thick.  Problem is that mine is 2" between the holes and 1" thick.  I have another steering rack with an RS coupling on it and it too is 2" (abt51 ml) another spare shaft that I have is also 2" between the holes.  Has Nolothane got this so wrong that these just do not fit CFs? all my couplings take the 2" spaced bushes.

Secondly, Where can i get one of these that will fit?  My old one is not going back in so i need something rather urgently.

Is there a company that sells NOS Beddy parts in Oz that I can check with?

Cheers

Neil

Thanks guys.
Any idea what the right part number is?  Nolothane only list one type.

Gentlemen,
Problem solved!!! ;D ;D

The smaller steering coupling that fits our CF Bedfords is the same as LC-LJ torana.

Super Pro Kit SPF499K at $81.25 full retail price. (probably similar in other brands)

2" spacing between holes and 1" thick.

Thank you to everyone who read and/or assisted with comments.

Now, on another subject... Geez we need a list/database of conversion bits for our Beddys if we are to keep them on the road.
I am happy to pull together some sort of basic spreadsheet if you want to send me your solutions or we could have a spreadsheet (or one central point to check first) here on the site if that suits everyone better.
eg:
Steering coupling - LC-LJ Torana fits the smaller size
Rack boots Torana again.
Rear spring shackles - EA-EB Falcon front suspension bushes.
Steering uni joint (I forget and I'll have to check the box)
Brake Booster - Torana again with Falcon M/cyl (is that right?)

Cheers all.
Neil

I had the square one.  What year model is yours? Mine is a 1976 140inch C/C.  I had two other sets of fittings to compare and they were square too.
