G'day
Looking at the photo, the rack looks way too narrow.
I reckon bump steer would be a real problem.
The problem I have is that most of my stories end with... and that is why I am not allowed to go back there!

G'day

It still looks way too narrow.
To understand why I am concerned check out this article (with diagram):
http://www.longacreracing.com/articles/art.asp?ARTID=13#Q6

I have an early Ford van that when going had a hot Holden 186 and powerglide auto. It has bump steer. It was scary at slow speed and lethal at a fun speed. It has been relegated to the graveyard.

oh that makes sense. so would it be safe to say that the orig bedford front end setup has bump steer being quite a problem?

or possibly its cause all the bedfords i driv have sagged front springs and that is causeing it?

Mark and I sorted out the length problem by extending the rack shaft and slider on the passenger side and offset the rack to the drivers side making it slightly longer than the Bedford rack and mounted it slightly higher thus all but eliminating bump steer in a lowered front end I can supply the specs if anybody interested.By the way I have finally started on my full floating chassis for my shorty will post pics as i go            Cheers Neil
