My van's a 1980 CF LWB Mk 1 with HQ discs, PBR calipers and Ford 9" rear drums. I used the stock CF master cylinder but resized it from 3/4" to 7/8" bore and it works fine. I also downsized the huge Ford rear wheel cylinders to stop them locking up. If you haven't changed the rear brakes then give the stock master cylinder a try first. You can then resize the bore if you need to.

is there any difference between the master cylinder of a drum and disk braked cf front end
i have just got a bedford disk front end off a 88 ambulance i also have a master setup off a 235 vc commordore

Back in the day we used to replace the beddy gear with a Holden torana LC master coupled to a ford XC master. The bolt holes on the master were widened only slightly and the pushrod was shortened to suit, worked well

that post was 2 years ago .... i have factory bedford dishs , xc master and lc boster .. also have hq setup ... havent fited any of these yet  ;D ;D

On modern cars there is a difference between disc front/disc rear systems and disc front/drum rear systems. The difference is in the proprtioning valve. If you are running disc front/drum rear, you will need to run a m/cyl from a vehicle with that set up.

As for m/cyl bore size and w/cyl bore size, whilst some variation may not be cause for big problems, I suggest trying to match them as best as possible for best performance. I've yet to mod mine as I'm still umming over my diff set up and that will probably dictate what I do brake wise.

Isn't this fun trying to engineer out the Beddy faults!
