QUOTES....
« on: August 27, 2008, 12:26:47 AM »
Have you had any quotes regarding, panel, paint, rust removal, trim, anything????  so that we can all compare .......

Think I'm going to get a quote to complete my panel and paint ...tooo many hrs for me(kinda over not having any life, mining doesn't help) and I think I'm being too fussy, need to get it on the road and don't want to rush/ spoil it

Dano,

Go and see :

Tom
Big Jobber Panel & Paint
Wangara

(Paramount Drive From memory)

He did a bare metal panel paint and rust removal on our HK sedan 5 years ago and has done a heap of other work since.

He is right into all older cars/vans and will listen to what your are looking for.

You can see his work in progress and his drive cars are always awesome, HR van, EK ute

We have always found him reasonably priced.

Regards

Rhett
PS I will text you his number to get the address and see when he is in the shop.

$10,000 for a showroom finish, from bare metal. You should be able to find someone who will do a
pretty good finish for $8,000 - $9,000, this would be about average.

I've been out of the game for a while but full restoration on anything would probably set you back minimum $20,000, paint could be another 10 + on top of that depending on type/colour etc
There are so many people out there who will tell you that you can't. What you've got to do is turn around and say "watch me"

That's a pretty close estimate Busy. I'm in that process at the moment. Currently looking at the following:

Bead-blast to bare metal, plasma cote and etch prime    $K5-6
Re-bog, skimcote, blocksand and prime etc   $K4-5
Show paint finish etc    $K15-17

So all up looking at between $K25-30

Oh joy.

I know if i were to have had my beddie done at shop prices through Racepaint i would be looking at 40K - it helps when one of your best mates happens to own said 'Racepaint'. At the end of the day, if you want quality, you pay for quality.

Had my van professionally painted in 2007 for just under $9K, sorry I didn't take inflation into account.
It didn't require much panel work, but if I had been quoted those sort of above figures, I wouldn't still own it.
