Who can explain how these engines end up sounding like this? :-\ I understand that it has something to do with the camshaft but,how come they dont just fuel up and choke themselves.... ???

Hey johnno, could be they have a straight through exhaust, and no mufflers, being show cars they can get away with it. For road use they would need to tone it down.
Tell me this guys, why is it motor bikes are allowed to have these earth shattering exhausts that kill the ear drums, but cars are not. Dont get me wrong, i like the sound some of these bikes make, but hate bikes. lol
Where we live, the road is a short cut to the main highway, and every sunday the bikie gangs cruise by, i'm not talking 5 or 10 bikes, more like 50, 100 and one morning must of been close to 200 bikes. We can sit on the veranda and just watch the parade, some of these guys are not shirt and tie, more like mad max looking.  ;D Like most people i would stay clear, but it is a spectacle to watch on a sunday morning.

Interesting to hear that these big blocks have this.  M 2 cents - I have a BMW 525i 1990 that has developed a problem with rev hunting until it warms up 10-20sec from starting, I am have done a little digging and I believe that it is either a bad O2 sensor or and most likely the air intake and vacuums.  But it is definitely a 'problem' with my vehicle  :-\

G,Day Johnno the hunting is caused by a combination of valve lift and lobe separation (between inlet and exhaust ) the higher the lift the more eratic the vacuum pulse signal in the intake becomes causing idle hunt this is much more pronounced on carburetted engines rather than injection as carbs need vacuum to pull the fuel into the engine .as for the Beemer i would pull out the IAC (Idle air controller) and give it a clean out with some carby clean and that should sort it maybe??!! ???    Cheers Neil
