Off Topic - Christchurch Quake Relief Album
« on: March 09, 2011, 12:37:39 PM »

Sorry about the off-topic post, but it's rather important.

As a reaction to the Christchurch Earthquake of February 22 2011, a group of 63 Artists from around the world have donated their music to a charity album that is hosted up on www.christchurchquakerelief.bandcamp.com. This Album is available for download after donating money to the project. All the proceeds will be divided between to the New Zealand Red Cross 2011 Earthquake Appeal and the Prime Ministers' Christchurch Earthquake Appeal. The project is designed to encourage people to donate and to show the people of Christchurch that they’re tragedy has affected people of all cultural types worldwide and they are prepared to do whatever they can to help them in their time of need.

I pledged a Track and we're trying to get this info out to as many people as possible. We have an official press release and PR material - please PM me if your able to put this in the hands of someone who could help publicise the album.

There is more you can do than just donate as well. We have a Facebook Event page set up you can invite your friends too and there is also a Fan page to "like" So spread the word, tell your friends, write to your local paper about the project, send a few emails.  There is a lot that can be done whilst sitting at your computer listening to the compilation for the first time!

Thanks Guys - much appreciated.

Kia Ora bro, what a fantastic initiative, hey I have acquired a 6 million dollar venue rent free, cost of rates and utilities for the next two years, its been donated for our use by owner, it focuses on street kids and community, we have no funding and rely on fundraising, why this reply? our target group are South Pacific youth who have been in lock up or a good chance of heading there, we are getting referells fromthe Courts and do alot of outreach on the streets of Dandenong and the south east suburbs of Melbourne, we are planning a memorial service soon for the kiwi community at the venue, it is the first South Pacific community centre in Australia. We are waiting for the last victim to be recovered before we hold the event, This will be a great opportunity to play your track, the kiwi community in Melbourne is waiting for someoen to initiate a memorial service and I am seeking additional performers .... interested?

oh forgot to add, SBS television are doing a documentary on the venue so you may get some coverage can't promise though because the focus of the story is on a recently released homeless 18 year old for armed robbery on a convenienvce store to buy food and a 14 girl forced into street prostitution to get food into the house these kiwi kids are doing it rough bro and it would be great to show support towards them and others in similar situations as welll

Hey there Mr Ed! Good to hear from you - been a while.
Mate, i'm more than happy to do anything i can to help you and the cause.
if you rekon my music is suitable for the memorial - i'm happy to help. Bear in mind, it's not a band, it's just me.  Would suit possibly before or after the formalities, and would be a great chance to promote the relief album. let's chat more, do u still have my number? are u still at the same house?

hey bro, lets do it  ;D I'm still at the same house till 22 April then off on the long road to who knows where for about 18 months, we have a land line now but don't sorta recollect what the number is  ??? have your number somewhere but like my own home phone number have no recollection of where, hey bro drop by if you can, I'd drop by your pad but I don't jnow where it is ... or I will be at the venue 176 Stud Road Dandy at intersection of Heatherton Rd, its right behind the Shell servo on the corner, from 9.0 a.m till about midday this Friday morning if your passing thru, met a group of young kiwi men on the streets today who have volunteered to help me clean up the venue. Bro any music that is linked to or supports those that suffered and continue to suffer back home is fine by me .... formalities? bro we're talking street kids ...... there will of course be clergymen from the South Pacifc Nations leading prayers ... our kids will also sing ... we did one last year for the tsunami and words cannot descibe the effect it had on everyone that attended, these same kids did a cultural festival to raise funds for the Black Saturday bushfire victim in Gippsland, they are special bunch, I have worked with about 300 of them over the past 3 years and have a group of about 70 I play touch rugby with each week. These kids do it hard but still manage a smile. get on board bro,
