New BUGA Site ?
« on: January 17, 2011, 10:53:49 AM »
Hey shane, are you still doing up the new buga site ? if so here is something to think about, this frustrates the F**K out of me, I have just typed up a great big response to a post here, i sent it i went to an empty page, not connected, left clicked back and got this page, but everything i typed was gone, im stuffed if i am going to try and do it again, Q, is there a way of the text being save so that when i left click back to here, i can attempt to send again. Sometimes we might lose the conection for a sec as you send, or ethenet cable may not be right in. Can you have something where maybe, if the connection is lost as you go to send, a message comes up and ask you to try and send again, so you dont loose your text.

Thanks mate

G'day

A suggestion of what I do...
Due to my dyslexia I use a word processor to type replies and when it looks OK I do a copy and paste. I have had your problem on other forums and even my webmail interface so it is not just a BUGA issue.

Regards
The problem I have is that most of my stories end with... and that is why I am not allowed to go back there!

Agree with Chris - use a text editor or word processor for those big rants (which is most of your stuff :)  ;))

Or just type faster  ;D

The interweb is a funny place, and as you move from page to page normally the memory is cleared so you will encounter that problem all the time.

I have no doubt it happens in most forum type sites, buga is my site of choice. suck suck  ;D ;D ;D ;D on my windows email if you go to send and something is not correct or you go off line without knowing it, a window pops up telling you the problem, in the case a while ago where the connection drops out for a sec, if we could get something like that here, so if connection drops out a message comes up and asks you to try sending again, but you dont loose your text, and it only seems to happen when you do a great big post. Most of the time now i reach in back make sure my cable is all the way in then hit send. Something like when you a doing a reply, and you hit send and it wont go because someone had a quicker post, and the red message asks you if you want read it b4 sending, that would be the way to go.

The difference George is that your Windows email is an application loaded locally on the PC so it is able to generate those error messages that you see. BUGA is a website based on a remote server. if your link did drop out then you would never see the error message if there was one because it would be generated by the remote machine that you can no longer access.

Chris's and Warren's suggestion is about the only way around it.

Probably using 'Wordpad' is the easiest. Start it by doing either of the following...

1.) START - - RUN. Now type Wordpad and that should start it.

2.) START - - PROGRAMS - - ACCESSORIES - - WORDPAD.

You won't be able to do the first one if the RUN command isn't enabled in your START menu so just use the second option in that case. Once you've finished typing just select it all and then copy and paste it into your post.

How does that sound?

i usually type a message then highlight it and hit copy.....then if i go to post it and blank screen comes up i simply hit paste.....this often happens when you add photo files that are too large and it wont let you post it.

I sorted the flip cam by accident, you need to move the home movies from the flip cam file to a newly named folder and from there you can do a dvd, of which i have just finished.  ;D ;D ;D
