Great story Chris - good way of getting back at the greedy.

As for ebay, ebanking and wireless there are a few things to remember.

ebay - check the buyer/sellers reputation, only deal with people with positive rep over say 20, when buying big ticket items (anything over $500) view it first (if possible) and go for cash on pickup.

ebanking - some banks have token generators, if yours do, get one - these token generators have a little computer in them that generates an new token (number) every X seconds based on a security algorithm each time you log in to your ebank you will type in a new token that is verified by your bank - so even if someone has your bank details they will not be able to guess the token.

Banks will NOT ask for details over the phone - they will not send you emails with links to follow in them, you will have to log into your account and update things if needed.

If anyone asks for Banking info - acc number  cc number etc assume it is a con and DON'T give it to them.

Wireless routers - make sure you are using the highest level of encryption the router has, and only allow known *MAC addresses to your system - this can be set as part of the modems settings.

* A Media Access Control address (MAC address) is a unique identifier assigned to network interfaces for communications on the physical network segment.

I have been ebanking and ebaying for years and had no problems - I also use an accounting package on my PC to track all my financial transactions, and check all my bank statements against it.

remember the old saying - if it sounds to good to be true it most likely isn't.

I was just born in the wrong generation for computers  ;D  I use my pc for itunes, i love doing up my own cds for the truck, i have had 2 ipods now and they have both failed on me, so i have given up on them, they are just crap. When i get the beddy done and i set up my sound system, i will get a new ipod, and i will get the longest warranty available and if it dies i will just keep sending it back. It took some convincing for me to even look at an ipod, but when i saw what i could do in itunes i was converted, now they just need to build a reliable ipod. Mine was a classic, with 20,000 song capacity, i am shy of 4000 in itunes.  ;D ;D ;D Technology, love it, but its all crap in the reliability stakes.

Well george if you can master iTunes, you should be able to master ebanking and ebay :D

I find apples itunes to be a Pain in the A$$ compared to other more open formats (its so much easier to just drag & drop). I upgraded to iphone3 a while ago and have to use itunes to update it, and while some aspects of the iphone are good, I think they are highly over rated.

Maybe you could consider the iphone instead of the ipod.

Hey warren, now you have hit a raw spot with me and technology  ;D ;D you want a rant hey  ;) ;D ;D ;D my wife has got an iphone and i had to try and set it up for her. The problem i have with this is, almost everything now is coming out with the logo socialising, bloody TV is not a tv now, a tv allows you to get on line, tv is  a monitor for your pc [ so long as broadband cable is connected] mate when i switch on my tv i want to watch tv, rambo or news, not be able to get onto bloody facebook or twits, thats why i have a laptop, or my mobile is to ring someone for help, not listen to music, thats why i have a cd player or radio in the truck.
Look i can see the positive side though, ipad, take that with you and you have itunes, google, net, satnav, phn you name it, BUT, what happens when you have scrapped all your components and just have an ipad, and the ipad dies, you loose everything, music, satnave, phn, net and addresses, same with tv, it crashes, you have no net or music. I recon i will stick to my separate things, and here is why. I had my ipod set up for the truck, hometheater in the lounge, and when it died so did the doc in the theater system, but i still have my music on my pc, so for now i just play itunes on the laptop till i upgrade again.  ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D

There are so many people out there who will tell you that you can't. What you've got to do is turn around and say "watch me"
