proportioning valve wanted
« on: November 24, 2010, 06:04:27 PM »
Hey guys,

Anyone got an old proportioning valve lying around, they came out on the old HQ holdens and stuff, i have the double but need the single (rears).

I've attached a picture of one, sorry is the only picture I could find. they are a PBR brand

If anyone has one they want to sell, swap, give away ....  I need one to get my van cert'd. they wont allow adjustable ones

cheers

I just had one fitted to the white beddy truck....it has a screw down handle on it so you can adjust the pressure flow.....you can fit it anywhere in the brake lline.

What's the reasoning behind not allowing adjustable units? That seems totally daft to me.

they dont allow them as they can be used as a line lock devise (so can do burnouts or "linelocks" as they were known in the day and not damage or have the rear braks come on, vise grips work just as well)

If anyone finds a large supply I'd say grab the while you can, as PBR has stopped making them..
They're letting us use the adjustables in the race cars from next year due to the discontinuation.
An old holden wrecker is probably the best bet

Hmmm, so they'd rather have a whole lot of modified vehicles on the road with rear brakes that aren't set up properly just so some little turd can't do a burnout if he happens to have lost his pair of visegrips. The logic morons use continues to astound me.

I think I will hide my adjustable one so it's not immediately obvious to inspection. Near enough isn't good enough for me as far as brakes are concerned.
