Roof, The Roof Is On Fire...lol
« on: November 21, 2010, 05:27:56 PM »
Hi all, ive been given a CF bedford(ex ICE Cream van) with the high roof... yuk, not hot.

The Question I have, can the roof be swapped over for one with a lower profile, and where would i locate one...

Regards Troy

Hi Troy

Anything is possible, but its a lot of work.

Where are you located, as that might help out with suggestions - if your around Melbourne Ben might be of assistance with a new roof.

you have to try and find a wreck of some sort or custom build a roof like a step roof ect. it will be almost impossible to find one that's perfect so try and find the best that you can and work from there.
but don't stress it can be done.
ur a bedford owner ....adapt overcome work it out

Would going pop-top be easier? Not as sexy as the low roof line but better tham Mr Whippy!

Lash out & buy yourself a spot weld drill bit then you can drill out all the spot welds that hold the roof skin on without damaging the gutter, now remove roof skin, go to a wreckers do the same there, bring the skin home & plug weld the new skin on, DONE

Hey troy, if you get yourself a pop top, there a lots of businesses around that do new tops. And you might find that it will be easier to do new, then to fiddle with trying to graft old, you may get the gear cheap, but the time it takes to finish can be costly.

Also, that pic of yours in your avatar, do you have a bigger pic, and pics of your ice van.

ben has a swb roof mould, so he should be able to fiberglass you a roof... he's also very happy to help out if he's not busy...
