G'day

I got ripped off on another forum when I posted a wanted add for Transit ventilated discs.
The bloke contacted me and had the parts I wanted. I sent him the money but got no parts. I reported to the moderator who said that he had been a member for a while but had not been very active. There were no contact details and no other members knew him. I reported it to the Police but nothing happened.

Also the Just Parts magazine ran an warning a while back, about scum targeting people who place  wanted adds. They sound genuine and have the right parts, but after the money is sent, no parts are forthcoming.

So beware!
The problem I have is that most of my stories end with... and that is why I am not allowed to go back there!

in situations with unknown buyers/sellers Cash on Delivery is a great option as the buyer cannot have their money stolen due to lack of posted items (unless incorrect items are packaged) and the seller will only lose $10 or so if the buyer does the dodgey and doesn't pick the order up.

Its a great shame that one mans word can be less valuable than the dirt I try to wash off my hands, but that is life and we all need to be weary.

Sadly matte you are correct, and the problem is getting worse, seems that some are out for what they can get for nothing. I was talking to my sparkys wife this morning, when i picked up my new cruise control for the van, and i said that it is time to get some of the punks into the military, they want to leave shool, then draft the little ba****ards. I had my first job at 13, milk run, and for 35yrs i held down a job right up till losing my legs, @ work, and even now i dont know how to slow down, and just to be clear, NO i dont get ANY assistance from the gov, i am on a self funded pension from my years of work, so no im not living off the tax payers purse. Never been on the dole, and never will.

I'm gonna sound like an old bugger here...But i have often thought the same as George. All of the overseas students (china and singapore) here at the uni that i work  have to do national service over there. I am gobsmacked at the constant barrage of stories in the press about grannie bashings and total disrepect for the basic morals and manners that i grew up with. I am convinced that a stint in the forces would be a good thing for those antisocial elements (male and female) of our society. :)

Rosie, if they are a legit company ask them to pay via Paypal.. i was reading somewhere on the WWW that 90% of american business do majority of there online trading using paypal... there is no way in the world I would be handing over my private and confidental data like that (next they will be asking for 100 points of id).

be careful with paypal... they have a habit of freezing your account right after you make a large deposit... many horror stories with them if you check the net...

more then likely members here have had dramas with them?

i deal with ben and im happy to send the money in advance because in my experience with him he is honest and good for his word. i would do the same for other prominent members if they were too far away to just drive there and do the deal cash but i would never deal with a new member or long registered but infrequent contributor unless it was a face to face cash on pickup... im not direct depositing large sums to a stranger who has zero cred on this forum fullstop! to risky....
