Hey there every one my name is Stephen im a 32 ear old petrol head and dye hard car buff funny how-things happen in life 8 days ago we saw a ambulance driving past and said to the wife we should see what we can get and make a camper funny that afternoon driving home from a work dinner looked up a drive way and here one was and my good luck he wanted 250$$ so next day picked it up and wife hit the roof the back floor was rotten and very little rust it had a old 202 that had a blown  piston so in  the scrap bin it went so dragged my race engine out of shed and have started measuring for the fit will post photos of it as i build it . Big thanks to all the forums and advise that is here started looking for what power steering rack would fit yesterday and no wreckers had one went for a beer today at the scrap yard and got one for 100$ most happy well this is my second beddy as some F%#*ER Stole it and torched it Biggest Thanks to Google for finding me this site

P.S.  The day i saw the ambulance was its last day as the guy was gonna scrap it on the Saturday and i saw it on the Friday  ;D PEACE OUT

just remember old engines and stuff can be taken to the scrap metal dealers for some beer money

clean bare block = top money
dirty block = less money
engine mixed with alloy = lesser money

scrap metal prices are up at the moment

welcome
There are so many people out there who will tell you that you can't. What you've got to do is turn around and say "watch me"

Welcome aboard mate. 2 Qs. what sort of rack did you get for your van, we are rapping our conversion up now. Also do you have pics of your stolen van ? without giving to much away when mine rolls out of the workshop it will have the latest security in it, and an old fashioned steering lock. At the end of the day all the security in the world wont stop these mongrels if they want it, as i used to say to people when i was in security, common sense on the owners part can go a long way to stuffing up a crims day, as does a good security system. Look forward to your build pics mate.

no pics of my old one as they swiped my laptop as well but will be posting photos up soon i scored a Ford transit power steer rack and am going to fit a Holden dashboard in it as well with a few mod cons so far i have ripped the wooden floor out in and stripped the front out for engine transplant going to have a 3.8l v6 Holden motor out of a vr Holden and seats are out of a Honda horizon Have to cut the front fiberglass part of the roof off to repair rust as lazy bastards took the flashing lights off and never filled the holes so water pored in and sat in the windscreen Chanel and it has rusted 1/3 of channel away but thats about the whole extent of the rust in it just a few little holes in the floor about size of a dollar coin no biggy and busykiwi thats what happened to the old motor and i enjoyed the borbon that cam from the money needed it after rip
ping out the floor

Good Choices, lol  ;) We also put in a transit rack, and the 3.8 V6, ours was a 93 VP, for the simplicity of setting up the electronics and servicing. I think when you go to VR - VS you get all the little bells and whistles and a more of an electronic controlled motor, am i correct ? where as the VP was a basic model, we did get power mirrors lol.  ;D Considering i will be getting my mechanic to do all future services once we are on the road, he was familiar with this model, so we did, we will still get the grunt we need to cruise. We are building a show van, so i am not interested in doing burnouts and the quarter mile, i will leave that for others, or do it in my dune buggies and go-kart. Look forward to the pics how you set it up, are you doing it, or a tradie ?

im doing it myself and a friend will do the final welds on it i have cut the orignal mounts off so i can lower the motor as much as possible keep the weight down once i have the motor in place i will look at the rack and yes you are right it is a bit more work but if you can read a wiring digram its a lot simpler plus i have ripped all the orignal bedford wiring and tossed it in the bin as i am using the whole holden loom and gauges to make my life easer
