Rolling lounge or bed? Why not both? My travelling Beddy back in the 90's (now sadly in beddy heaven in the NT) had a setup that delivered the goods I think. Gallery page 5, Banksx2, Bedford the First album, Annexe Kitchen pic.

The couch you'll see ran along the driver's side and the back of the van giving an L-shaped lounge, then simply pulled out for a seamless queen-width bed that I had to shorten a little to fit the fridge in. I slept on the passenger side and my feet hung over by a few inches - they did that at mates places (avoiding DUI), outside and behind pubs (same), at roadside stops (too knackered to drive further) and (luxury) caravan parks on a round Oz trip. Comfortable as if you go to Clark rubber for the mattress. Storage for blankets/sleeping bags/pillows was at the rear and you pulled them out before pulling out the bed. Still left room for tools/trolley jack/jerry can/spares.

The wood you can see underneath the couch was a big pull-out drawer that we used as a fold-the-clothes-flat wardrobe.

The design and mechanics of the lounge/bed is simple and I can sketch it out if you're interested. I'll put better pics in the gallery as soon as I can find the buggers - several house moves and being flooded out once in Darwin have taken their toll on what I can post!

wow garry, that definetly looks like it was an awesome set up to get around with.
i am very interested to have a look at a sketch of the design and mechanics of how you had it set up

Thanks for the sketch Garry, had a look at the document, definetly a sweet set up you had, going to have to incorparte some of the design into my van.
