trailer question

hey peole,

my bedford carting tandem car trailer has electric brakes on torana/hk stud pattern. the electric brakes work well but i really would like to put dragway mags on it, now 13" dragway mags dont go for much on ebay in torana stud pattern, but im stuck with using 13" tyres of course.

i have a ton of 14" dragways here, and a ton of truck tyres in 14" also.


so for my question. i can change the rear hubs over simple to hq.

but how can get the front to hq? i suppose there is always re-drilling. its currently got drums from a eh or something of that era.

or should i look at a disc brake setup with my electric brakes?

Yes truck tyres are a must.
the other thing is i noticed the other day with my father-in-laws 10"x 5" tandem trailer loaded with a tonne or so of sand, is that at low speed tight turning, there is a lot of lateral force on the wheels/tyres (ie a lot of force pushing sideways on the tyres as they fight against each other when turning) i cant find a picture, but next time you have it loaded, have someone crack a tight turn on bitumen while you watch and you'll see what i mean.
My concern is there's not a lot of meat in the dragway 5 spokes, and i dunno if they'll take it? ive seen jellybeans used on trailers all the time but never dragways. And one final thought, what weight are dragways rated for? will 4 of them carry 3tonne?

yeah I'd be talking with them to see if your type of backing plate/brake system is compatabile with thier hubs.

Save buying a whole kit.

You will have to know your stub axle bearing diameters I would think.

i have 7" dragways which can fit skinny 195 truck to them..


yeh i suppose i should check that out hey. what there rated for. ive been told jelly beans are only rated for 500kg each wheel which makes them illegal to run on a bedford because of carrying capacity.

Look up Martins Trailer Parts in the White Pages they can answer all your questions and they have got all the parts on the shelf
