I'm not really using mine yet, because it's not legal and therefore not insured.
But AMI were quite happy to insure my last one. I only had third party, and don't remember the price , but it was very cheap.
Funny old life.

I've got all my vehicle insurance with AMI. Had 2 accidents that weren't my fault over the past 3 years in the WRX and there was no hassle at all. The van is only insured for fire and theft (BAHAHAHA) while it's in the garage but once it's on the road I'll bang it up to full cover.

Shouldn't matter. So long as you have it certified, it is recorded on the registration papers and you let them know about all the modifications you should be good to go. Mine was insured with the old 186 engine no problem at all. I've also modified the WRX without any dramas although they really cranked up the excess for theft or malicious damage and they did look at me sideways for a bit.

Agreed. They only needed to know it was certified.

I wonder if I could get away with "a few modifications"
There are so many people out there who will tell you that you can't. What you've got to do is turn around and say "watch me"

You could say it was one big modification especially if there is nothing standard left.  :P

all 3 of my toys are insured with AMI for 3rd party only, costs me about 50 something each per year. Ami won't ever give me full cover as they say I have too many desireable modifications and fittings. Wish we had an outfit like Shannons insurance over here, was talking to a guy on their stand over at sumernats a few years ago. They seem to accept that certian vehicles are prodomantley show vehicles and mostly only driven to shows and not daily drivers so insure much more fairly based on that fact, ie lower premiums and excesses. Maybe one day they will cross the ditch until then its only 3rd party for me.

Cheers Jeff
Just customize it!
