Possibly it's like black silastic, tuff as all hell and you can paint it, when you order a firewall for a commodore a tube of it comes with it, they also use it in truck cabs

Hi all... I've got a set of spiffy fiberglass flares for my LWB 77 that i am going to screw on and noticed a few pics on here show a rubber padding between flare and body... is this a usual accompaniment to flares or optional and if they are beneficial what sort of rubber? size? is used... just cheap from clarkes rubber?

The flares i have fit pretty tight already (may need 6 sets of hand and some elbow grease to fit) so hoping absence of the rubber is cool.

cheers for any feedback
Brendon
Brendon, i believe it's simply a piece of plastic "piping" cord wrapped in a vinyl of your colour choice, it's simply a cosmetic solution to " a bad fit " or poor mould, or simply a finisher ..... ask any motor trimmer to sew you up some with a "long tail" so you can pinch or attatch it with you flares. i have to do mine very soon and will be posting photo's when I get to it, prob next week if i can get my door on. If your really desperate let me know and I can sought it for you, just pm me. Dano
Can I go play now...?

righto cheers... thinking with the amount of work put into my baby would be a shame not to fit the flares right... going to suss out glassing them on.

thanks all.
