Burswood Show next year
« on: August 07, 2010, 09:30:14 PM »
Most of you don't know that I was a show judge, I used to judge the shows here in W.A. and interstate as well. Now I don't know of any vans here in Perth that are up to trophy winning condition but there are two trophys up for grabs that daily drivers can enter in
(1) Best Club Display
(2) Best Display
The way they judge Best Display is they look at the display and imagine that the vehicles are not there, that's why you can enter daily drivers. So I was thinking why not enter BUGA as a club display? You could even set the display up as the website. For Sale section with parts on the ground, Featured members, with some pic's, The Sump, print off some good stories on large papers, Cruises & events, print off some pic's & stories, CF Bedford art, let your imagination run wild, Featured Vans, have some large pictures displayed, maybe even some Custom Vans & Trucks magazines lying about, you have to remember there are a few generations out there that missed the "Van Scene", this could create some real intrest and handing out a stack of BUGA Flyers. Now you've got 12 months to get every thing organised and believe me it WILL take 12 months, you need everything to be organised & practice set ups at least two months prior to the show.
O.K.. That's my thoughts on the subject so what do the rest of you think?
Regards

Got a good engine bay to show off? I't's a bit hard to show it on a Bedford then reverse up on some car ramps, now people should be able to see in your engine bay now. What to do with the ugly car ramps, easy, al foil it's cheap and easy to apply. Now lighting, believe it or not with all the lights in the dome it is still quite dull so I would recomend some Porta Flood lights, experament with different colour bulbs you will be very surprised how different couloured light reacts with different paint, especially metalics. Anything electrical will have to be tagged by a qualified electrician. Now the show promoter might have an electrican on site(contact show promoter for exact details) but you will have to wait in que and you won't be permitted to use any un tagged electrical components and if you do they will confiscate them and return them to you after the show. This has nothing to do with the show promoter it's a Burswood stipulation. Something else that catches people out and they get refused entry is that you MUST have FULL fuel tanks, this is a fire brigade stipulation, reason, fuel won't ignite but the vapours do, sounds strange but I've done a fire ex course and it's true. Another thing you might be intrested in is that it's a car SHOW so your vehicle while on display does not have to be LEGAL, so fit zoomie pipes if you want. I'd love to see some Murals and real pinstriping again anybody game. If I come up with any more ideas I'll post them, If you have got any ideas I'd like to hear them

Petrolhead l had a car in a show over here in Vic, 1987 it was, and they wanted us to drain our tanks at the exabition building, and disconnect our batteries, but it was alright to have flood lights and what nots... ::) ::). l am glad they woke up and looked at health and safty
make it reliable, or smash it with a big hammer

hey fellas, yeah im keen on the idea in principle. If i'm free on the weekend(not racing and in the state) then i'm definately up for it. Not real creative when it comes to these sort of things, but im sure with some brain storming amongst us all it could work out quite well

Sounds good to me, when we were living in the pilbara my Van was not up to scratch to enter a Custom Car show (rough roads & Red dust) but now since living in Perth I may consider it, I remember some excellent Bedford Vans in Burswood years ago but none for the last few years, food for thought!   Regards to buga Members,           Ian
