Yay, finally got one side finished tonight and the wheel back on. Just have to get the new steering column linkage done so I can steer the damn thing and I might be able to get to the other side and do that one as well.

Thanks to everyone who replied to this thread as it was instrumental in getting this done. Here's some pics of the finished result because we all like pics... ;]

Hi Al,

Got the number of BNT OK. Good price.

Can you tell me what you had to machine out of the hub, what bearings and seal you used (numbers) and did you have to make up a custom washer to hold the outer bearing in? Is your stub axle the big or small diameter one and whats the grease cap off?

Cheers mate,
Garry.

Phew, OK...

Good to hear you got some discs at a good price.

The measurements for machining are all detailed above however it is a lot clearer in the link to this document posted by Bren from another thread...

http://www.memoria.com.au/DB022.doc

The bearing numbers are all listed above in Worzel's comment and these are for the big stub axle which I have on my 83.

Yes I had a larger washer made up to hold the outer bearing in. The original CF one was too large a diameter and the HQ far too small.

The grease cap is off an HQ and this fits inside the "grease cap adaptor" supplied with the Castlemaine kit. The custom washer mentioned above was turned slightly smaller to fit inside this adaptor when it is pressed into place. I'll try and remember to take a picture of the one I haven't fitted yet tomorrow night.

How's that?

Alrighty. Here's the pic of the grease cap adaptor...

And here's a pic of it fitted...

Hope that's of some assistance.

Congrats! Must be feeling good! Are you using the standard rack for steering?

At the moment I am. I had the money for the porsche rack but then the gearbox in the WRX threw up its hands and died so there went all my spare cash. AWD gearboxes are not cheap.

Shane, i'd hazard a guess at it being 3/8 or 10mm. When i made up my caliper brackets to convert from the HZ alloy calipers to the HQ iron calipers I used 7/16 plate as it was the only piece the right size kicking around. I had to grind the edge in one particular spot as it JUST rubbed on the rotor, 3/8 would have been fine.

Thanks mate.

I have some 10mm plate I'm trying to use with the falcon rotor but the centre part of the rotor hub(where the seal goes) rubs on the plate. 8mm I think would resolve the problem so I thought I would ask what this kit used.
