Trick My Truck
« on: June 10, 2010, 09:44:07 AM »
It's a show on Foxtel where they take somebody's truck and give it a once over mostly to a theme, will this rub off on the van scene? I hope so, imagine seeing vans like Major Tom and Invader2001 back on the scene again

I watch trick my truck every week, some real nice rigs come out of their workshops. My complaint is all these shows run for half hr, and everything is rushed. Pimp my ride is back on MTV, and Turbo has Beetle crises. I have been waiting and hoping the guys that do the british beetle series will do a bedford show, but so far no luck. Pimp has done a few chev vans, and overhaul has done a 70s chev, blue with a dragon, and street customs have done a couple of vans for the rap stars in america. But still no one has done a beddy, oh well, we wait with anticpation, one day.

George, I could be wrong, but i am pretty sure that the US never got the Bedford, as it is a GM van, and GM has the likes of GMC, chev, etc so it would hurt their local brands to import the bedford more than it would help their bottom line.
You need to watch a UK version of the shows, or film everything you do to your van, reduce it to a half hour video and send it to MTV.. ;)
I might download some 'trick my truck' tho, cheers petrolhead

Hey Matte, you are correct, the yanks NEVER imported the bedford. I posted a thread a week or so back when someone asked if beddys made it to the U.S. A few years ago 2 guys who live in texas shipped a few bedfords over to the states to build a custom van, their main love though was the 1970 -71 falcons and a couple of monaros which they turned into MADMAX cars. From memory they shipped over about a dozen in containers, and at this time there are quite a few mad max intercetpors running around the u.s streets. As for the beddy they did not take off, probably because the beddy was never the star of a tv or movie. At that time everything oz was the flavor over there, and having a RHD car was the in thing.

I re-watched the Overhauling show today that featured that blue van which turned out great, but what intrested me more was the warehouse that was FULL of van goodies from the 70's, it was called The Accessory Centre. Now I've Googled it but no luck finding it. It would be good to see what they have in stock, anybody better than me at finding these things?
