halfway thru fixing up 75 beddie

howdy gang, im new to buga and have little experience in mechanics but love bedfords and thougt id have a go fixing up mine thats been sitting for a while. wondering if anyone can help with letting me know what disc brake front end is likely to be on there as i am stuck now trying to remove tie rod ends. also has monaro rims fitted if that helps. thanks

dont hit the tie rod end thread, in fact keep the nut on there loose while you hit the steering arm that connects to it instead. that will loosen it up until it pops up. couple of almighty swings and shell be out without damage to the tie rod end.

keep the nut on in case you miss the steering arm and hit where the thread is..

A tie rod splitter is a handy tool

but it wrecks the boots thou doesnt it? i bought a ball joint splitter but never use it because of that reason.

thanks 4 the advice guys. have given it a fair whack with the hammer but no luck still, the boots are already gone so might have to try splitter tool. ill let u know how i go

you will have better success if you hold another hammer (preferably bigger than the one your swinging) on the back of the steering arm and hit the other side this concentrates the impact on the tapered bore .you shouldnt need to hit it as hard    Cheers Neil
