hey bro, its simpler to read the post 'Thanks BUGA members' rather than retyping (I only got one good finger on each hand and one good eye that can see the key board)  ;D

Hey guys,

Thanks for the kind comments. Just thought I’d respond to the queries/concerns of some. I don’t want to cause any confusion whatsoever so let me recap for clarity.

For those who had been following the posts, my initial post was seeking a lwb with preferably a V8 for which I was to purchase, safety modify and theme up for the purpose of participating in the Camp Quality esCarpade. The car rally/bash is the major fundraiser for Camp Quality which provides much needed recreation programs for children with cancer. ( see www.campquality.org.au click on esCarpade ) I have seen the great work in detail as I am a current C.Q. volunteer who is actively involved in a leadership role, leading the camps for the kids, something I’ve been doing for about 14 years. I will also be needing to fundraise as well to the tune of around $5,000 (actual money donation, not value of donated goods). My intention had always been to purchase a van. Was outbid on Rubman’s black lwb, was waiting for Jimsvan’s black lwb to be ready. Even pursued that nice black one in New Zealand. But then came Weasil.

Whilst Weasil is donating the van, I will still be spending lots of personal money to get the van delivered from Qld to Melb, safety modifying the van eg bash plates, bulbar, front and rear tow bar, 4 x spare wheels, emergency flashing lights, cb, trip meter, signage, RWC, mechanical improvements, spare parts, insurance, registration, fuel, fuel and fuel, etc etc. Wouldn’t see much change out of several thousand dollars. So the donation of a van is a great start and, yes, further donations would be highly appreciated. My hope for this van is not for personal gain, and my intention was to keep the van for further bashes and infrequent personal use. I can understand peoples’ concerns about donating parts/services to what has now turned into a charity van, and what lies ahead for when it is to be sold. To be totally honest, I don’t know what the answer is. I do not want people helping out under the wrong impressions, and I don’t want to make any profit on the generosity of others. I’m very happy to hear peoples thoughts on what to do. The offering of a donated van has changed my initial plan, but a generous action like this from Weasil could not be refused.

I’m very pleased that Eddy has touched on ‘sussing’ me out as I can understand that having never met me, you just don’t know. I’m very happy to chat/meet/discuss with anyone to put all the confidence in the world that this is genuine and all above board. In a nutshell, I studied teaching at uni, ended up working for several not-for-profit charities and community groups, worked for about 5 years as a children’s entertainer at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melb, and have now had a massive career change and am currently a real estate agent!!! (there you go – full disclosure. Don’t hold this against me!!!!) I have no mechanical knowledge or ability and will be heavily reliant on the mechanical services of others. I had met several of you at the Melbourne Bedford meet in March, and I am married with a 2 year old daughter Kiara.

Sorry for the long post but moving forward I’d only feel comfortable for people to donate stuff if they are comfortable to, with knowledge of no hidden suprises and no hidden agenda. This includes you too Weasil. This Thursday is the ‘point of no return’ (this is pick up day) so if there are any questions/concerns, please let me know before then.

Open to hear people’s thoughts on this.

Thanks again guys,

Adrian.
