well, well, well.... because the van is not in Sydney I asked my cousin to measure the backing plate so that we could figure out whether or not it needed 9 inch or 10 inch drums. So he measures it and tells me it will need the 10 inch drums. Benny boy helps me out with the 10 inch drums, drive to Cowra to put them on and what do you know! The 10 inch drums are too big!!!

So now I have a pair of 10 inch drums (useless to me) and I am NOW LOOKING FOR A PAIR OF 9 INCH REAR BRAKE DRUMS.... If you have a pair or know where some are please let me know.

Cheers

Jock

ok so your've already got hq pattern on the rear is that right?
dont bother stuffing around with drum brakes, and dont bother searching for hq statesman rear disc set up coz you gotta be damn lucky to find them.
go to the wreckers and pillage a pre irs commodore rear disc brake set up, (cant remember whats model it changes think after vp, im not a commonwhore man) backing plates caliper mounts handbrake cable etc etc leave the rotors buy new ones.
basicly  all you need to have done is a half inch spacer machined up to sit against the axle housing and the calliper mount for clearance, and bolt your axles back in ( i had the local diff guy machine this spacer for me when he rebuilt my diff). but after that its all bolt on stuff no welding required. you'll need to have handbrake cable modified to suit too, cost me 60 bucks, still havnt fitted it (still too long need shortened more then 100mm) and that was 2 years ago ::)
comm stud pattern is the tiniest bit different to hq pattern so the rotor goes straight on. its all very straight forward, and makes life easier when servicing your brakes, parts readily available and cheap. i was meant to take photos of my set up ages ago for someone but never got around to it, if your interested i could take some pics, now that im unemployed ive got heaps of time on my hands.
my van has pulls up on a dime! prob better then my old mans vy

ps ive got 9'' swb drums if you want to pay freight from melb

cheers alex

Dont use HQ wheels on Crummadore studs or vise-versa, they are different, and eventually you will snap studs off.

If you go the Crummador route - replace the front as well so you can run one set of rims.

hi you miss interpreted what i said, i have hq stud pattern and hq wheels all round, just comm rotors on rear.  you could always drill rotors to suit hq pattern but the comm pattern still works so i didnt.

So Alex...Just to clear up any mis-understanding :) You didnt' redrill the back rotors to HQ stud pattern, so they are still commodore stud pattern.?
