hey y'all...I'm having trouble getting my crank pulley off chevy small block.........it's the centre bolt that's left with a huge washer..... just tried a pnumatic impact driver and a pnumatic rachet.....the b%$%&t won't budge....any ideas??  cheers Dano

heat the bolt head up, but not 2 much or u might fry the front oil seal.
a good way 2 heat it up is put an old socket on it and an old extension bar and mig weld a few runs on the extension bar, the heat will transfer into the bolt head ...
its not a reverse thread is it?

ok, you have 3 options..
1. get a good socket bar,
put the socket on the bolt, and have the bar resting on a block of wood(or similar) at about 45-90 degrees to the ground,
make sure everyone is standing back(just incase)
then press the starter, the starter should crack the nut provided the bar is on square.

2. you can weld the back of the head of the bolt as was said above, the heat will help, but you want to ensure you can still get a spanner on it, so i would leave this til last if your a little unsure of your welding abilities.

3. get a high torque rattle gun, my grandad has a sidchrome one that'll pull a tree stump out of the ground..

option 1 has never failed me, but i think the bolts fear having option 3 set on them...

i had same sort of issue with the pinion nut on my borg hwy diff. the best thing that worked for me was a socket and 2 metres worth of bars all together and pure leverage. cheers ben

hey peoples..... cheers for the replies.... I got tha F^%^A!!..... :-* ended up using a 700mm x 6mm flat bar, drilled two holes , used 3" bolts bolted to other pnts and basically used the ground as a dead stop, and a breaker bar socket thingy. wasn't that hard after all. now swaped over to a short water pump set up , with a fan and shrowld.... hopefully will fire her up in da morning ;)
