Lakes!!!  yummm  I'm building my own out of 100mm stainless,saw the exhaust guy ,he sold me the materials to make 4 baffels 250mm long 2 for each pipe,a reducer on the ends,a bit of flexi pipe ,flanges a nd thats about it (I think).
Here's how mine will sit.  Photo all legal over here as they don't extend beyond widest point of the vehical .

i thought the exhausts have to exit a certain distance behind the rear most side door ??

They are not allowed to exit the passenger side at all.

Unless the rules in Vic have changed recently then they should be ok. The height, the noise level and the exit point are the factors. Too low, no good, too noisy, no good, exit near opening door or window, no good. So on a van or tray there should be no problem.

As far as I know having the exhaust exit the passenger side is a no go in every state. This is of of the reasons why the AC Cobra replicas cant be sold with the side pipes connected. If anyone has some written proof from transport stating other wise I like to have it.
