I think what I mean to say is that I want a balanced look, that is to say just the arches to complement the wheels and the front valance.

yeah I know what you mean. I was thinking of just taking the plastic bits of and then welding steel to the rest of the bumper and tyinf that back to the new flare in the same respect as what you have donw by keeping the plastic one. I just though it might be easier than the attachments that you have made to attach to the plastic one

Ahh ok, but then you'd end up with the bumper stuck on the van permanently, which is what I;m trying to avoid.

Would that be a problem. as the Mk1 vans have a fixed front and you can still get the motor etc out

I dunno? I've never pulled an engine on these, I'm just playing it safe.

More progress today.

I finished off the other endcap corner piece, then cleaned up on of the rear sides a little got the filler down a bit and cleaned off the surface rust.

I also started to make a lip for the front arches, made of small plates, bit by bit. It's not finished yet.

Clearance...

Then I noticed there wasn't enough clearance on the front of the front tyres at a certain angle

so....

I've made some closing plates to cover that up, its much better now clearance wise. I don't know how that's happened, I'm sure I checked it before, I think its just one of those things.

Believe it or not that lot took the best part of 8 hours.

More tomorrow.

The awning is a Fiamma. It came with the van. The're not cheap to buy new but they are so easy to put in and out in no time at all its worth it.

I adapted one of the  winding hooks for use in my cordless drill so now its even easier ;D
