1965 Bedford CA Resto
« on: November 15, 2009, 10:51:11 PM »
I'll start the saga here, and repost the initial pictures as put in me intro...

Dismantling has begun...

Doors are off as is the "Nose" section, seats removed and radiator... Next job is to get ready to lift the shell off the chassis...

Hey Simon does the CA have a full chassis That would make it easy for engine swaps with the body off Cheers Reid

I think it is indeed a full chassis, Ried - I'm going to have a go at reworking the original engine, for originality, but it would indeed be a doddle to swap engines with that set up.

Cheers David will send the P&H back to you by return post...

G'day. I just joined today. Also got a CA. Mine's a 1960 CAL Martin Walter Dormobile. Unrestored, but registered and running.

OMG - Has it really been 18 months since I first posted... Damn - well thats what having a baby will do to you..:)

I need some info.. While researching I have found that the van isn't a 1965 as first thought, but is somewhere between 1959 and 1964. Have not a freakin clue!

Which brings me to my question - Are there any places on the web where you can decode a Bedford CA (Assembled in Australia) Vin/chassis number?
The compliance plates are not helpful and are in fact Holden ones (Being assembled by Holden I guess it makes sense)

Apparently I have a:

76 - Body
1008 - Trim
S8 - Paint

Chassis is CALV221206M

Restoration is over half way, painted the chassis today, at long last.
