ive got a 3.5 ratio with a turbo 700 auto overdrive box and if i wound this van up it would be doing 4,000 at 200kms. less than the amount of revs a standard beddy would do at 90kms. pretty cool eh..

i herd last night from a bloke 86kms is the most economical speed to travel at. for every 10km over than its the equiverlant of carrying 1 extra ton of weight. so at 200kms it would be like carrying 11.4 ton. wow.
he says this is the case with all vehicles, althou it must make a difference how high it is and sleak.

I'm not expert on the matter but that statment just doesnt sound right, there is way to many variables.
And you thought owning a bedford was going to be easy.

Ben with that set up try putting the standard diff ratio back in, with the overdive you will still have a great top end but>>>>>>>>>> down low it would feel like you have rocket bostters ;D

lol, im not expert either  but thats what he said:) he also said try it yourself, sit your car at 86, watch where your foot sits on accelerator, now speed up to 100 and see how much more it sits down, heaps more apparently??

now the bloke i was talking to i did meet on the side of the road and he was driving a toyota coaster camper, if that gives him any credibility or not lol..

Ben, think you will find you will get better km's as the motor does not have to work as hard. :D

ya recon?? bas?

well actually i dont use electric lockup cause its laboring a bit too much.

but its a bit too much work for me to put a standard diff back in to go to 5:2 ratio. althou id be able to tow a house up a tree and turn the tree into a tree house. hmmmm

ben, if your not using your o/drive and your not carrying a lot of weight you aren't gaining anything by having o/d. baz is right your revs would be around 2600 at 100 kph probably a more efficient area fuelwise and the t700 has a better ratio spread.Unless you've got gobs of power your overgeared.I have dually with 3.5 and t700 at 3.5 ton and will probably have to go back to 4.45 standard.

i am using the o/drive i just dont use the lockup which gives you another 500 less revs at 100, i plan on putting the hot 400chev back in this van once i get around to fixing the motor so once i do that it will be perfect ratios.

with the overdrive the van sits about 2600 revs, with lockup about 2100. without the overdrive 3,500revs

cheers
