Okay .. black beddy man says he gets ". I get one months driving on $60 woth of gas, around 50km per day. "

Thats pretty damn good ..is it really 25kms per litre?
or am i working it out wrong.. and how can he be getting that?

it has a 120ltr gas tank inside ...

and it may be sold tomorrow .. like you said ben . there is a bidding war going on ..

ahh .. anyone in adelaide fancy checking it out for me??

I'm guessing its a 120 litre tank and does it get used on the weekends as well?

22 working days is only 1100 kay dividing that by
                                  120 Lt of gas  equals
9.1k's per litre of gas or 11L per 100ks

or at 1500ks per 120L of gas would be 12.5ks per litre or 8Litres per 100k's

I think that would be hard but possible with easy driving and a well tuned motor, I got my bomb down to
about 15L of petrol per 100k on the freeway.

my 600 sports bike gets 7 to 8 litres per 100k's

I hope those numbers all add up correctly
And you thought owning a bedford was going to be easy.

yeh its possible but highly unlikey. infact i dont think its possible for a beford to gain that sort of econ.

reason being they are just pushing way to much air. and running a 308 (supposed to be a gas guzzler) and running gear to go with it the van would weight 2Ton,

best ive got out of this van with the overdrive and everything is 6km to litre. which i think is exceptional

we are also basing figures on estimations.. when someones selling something everything seems to get exaggerated also..

but sounds pretty economical

read all the guff and feedback on lpg and the average appears to be 5k/litre (even for newer cars, falcons, prados etc)
Had a cl se regal 318 auto on gas and only got 3.5 - 4 k per litre bit thirsty but not far off the mark
so with a vehicle with the aerodynamics of a brick outhouse and an old technology v8 you could only expect around 600k from a 120l tank
maybe it was $60 gas AND $100 petrol to do 1200-1500 k
If you like it do it, If you like it a lot do it a lot!

mm.. okay .. chatted heaps and tried to get it .. but too many others in there battling as well.
to me it sounds like he doesn't really know bedfords at all.. he had it 3 yrs and didnt do anything but put in electric windows and power locks ..

he said one guy climbed under and had a good look at the engine to figure out how it worked and what had been done to get such good fuel economy .. sounds like something to do with the carby set up and an oversized filter? ,.. anyway .. that guy wanted it on the spot..

he did tell me that a while back someone ran up all excited at a service station and wanted to see in the van to see how it was now .. cause some years back it was an award winner of some kind for some amazing set up .. and that it was all smoothly decked out with a disco ball etc .. said there was still traces of that .. but most gone now .. perhaps the same owner made some amazing set up in the engine that would be great to know?

even if he was exaggerating with fuel economy .. look on the cynical side and its still pretty good ..
but .. i missed it ..

it has either gone to a girl who fought it out with a guy on his front door step .. a guy in melbourne who wanted to spend 10k on it and make it a working advertisment and run around car for his business (wish he would just get a bombed out one and fix it up) or a guy in perth ...
my hopes are for the guy in perth .. whoever that may be..

licking my wounds and diverting my attentions ..

cheers,
joe.
