Carbon Canisters. What's the go with them?

Just wanted to know what people think of the carbon canister and if it can be legally removed.

It cant be legally removed as its part of the emissions control. I doubt if anyone would notice though.

1st thing they look for if they want to give you a yellow sticker .... well over here anyway.

I'm not sure you need it because the van is older than the motor.

as far as I'm aware if the replacement motor comes with the anti pollution gear then it is a must have, otherwise the smart copper will put the van off the road  in Victoria, and then its up to you to correct the fault and prove to Vic Roads not the coppers that the issue has been rectified, easy way out put in a pre pollution replacement motor

its a round black thing thats usually up the front of a vehicle that a hose from the carby, fuel tank go to for the pollution control .
its something u dont need when u have LPG only ben.
and actually i dont really think they do anything at all.

They are designed to capture the vapours from petrol from the tank and the carby.  They do not affect the performance of the vehicle like some polution add ons.  The carbon neutralises the vapour so it does not go into the atmosphere.  Another sort of connected conversation is the fuel cap.  The orange / plastic slip on ones are illegal for this reason.  They don't seal well enough to comply.  Likewise, when you have a carbon canister you have to have the "polution" petrol cap or you can have trouble with venting and fuel not getting to the carby.
