hi all i have just purchased a 2nd cf cause i am sick of waiting for my project one to be ready but unfortunately the fuel gauge doesn't work and i have ran out of diesel and i wouldn't have a clue on how to bleed it as it is the 1st diesel i have ever owned, its a 1981 2.3 any help would be much apreciated

If you look at the engine and follow the fuel line to the first thing it comes to. That's a filter, then a pump.
loosen the fuel line connection after the pump and kick it over (no flames, and use a small bucket to catch it) until you get only fuel. retighten fuel connection and start it up preferably by removing air filter and using "Start Ya Bastard" down the throat. Not yours tho.
Should be fine from there.
1976 SWB CF, 186 block, LPG customised VK EFI self ported Head, LPG converted Ram tube manifold, Extractors, Supra 5 speed, Falcon hwy Diff, HQ Disc brakes, Commodore 3 core cross-flow radiator, HEI, 90 litre LPG.
It can drive up a wall in 5th gear and across the Sun without overheating!

most diesels have a lift pump next to the injector pump.you unscrew the cap and pull it up and pump it up and down until it buils up pressure and it should start.

in the senter of the fuil pump you will see a littal screw undo that then pump the fuil pump un till the fuil comes out the screw it back.

then crack No 1 and 3 injector. turn the engine over and give it full gas untill the fuil come out.

then engine will try to start if the fuil starts to come out of the cracked injectors with full gas do the in jectors up then it will star.

when it dos keep it going on a fast tick over for a minit or 2 then you have bled your engine

DO NOT USE EASY START ON YOUR ENGINE IT CAN DAMAGE IT.

ive heard that a few times over the years.

Motor will run with the fuel injection pump dry, the pump needs fuel in it to lubricate itself.
I don't think the ether (whats in start ya bastard ) itself will damage the motor if its used sparingly. We used to use it on an old diesel where the motor was too flogged to start from cold as it couldn't  generate the heat to ignite the diesel. It would start fine once warm.

cant see how that would damage the pump,
like it would be full n pumping within 30 seconds after starting wouldnt it. and would have residue of diesel in thereto lube for that time.
not like it would be running for 30mins without diesel in there to lube.
