Seeing we are talking about wheels here has any one had an experience with changing the
Offset/backspace on steel rims, how much and is it safe?

The reason i ask is I scored a set of 15 inch Holden chasers modified to suit HQ pattern with the rear
widened to 10 inch well I think there 10inch there running 275 wide tires. The back space is to large
and the tires hit the spring. Bolt on spacers would solve the issue but legal and safety reasons I'm not
wanting to go down that track.
And you thought owning a bedford was going to be easy.

f***, the wheels look savage mate..
just got some new ones, paid $800 for the 4, not bad.. already looks much better, new steering wheel is fitted, pretty sporty, next sound system, new dash, then eventually a re spray..
how much do you guys reckon a full respray will cost including a small dinted panel that needs bumping out...there is abit of rust involved so they gonna have to strip it 1st.. any ideas lads? cheers..
oh, and were would i get an air horn from boys? and how much are they also? ta

gday matty i got the offset on my 8x14in steel rims changed to fit my holden banjo diff. i have 235 tyres. from memory it cost me around $100 a wheel. it all worked out fine but cruisin round oz with a fairly heavy load in the back it wore out the inside of my tires so i had to get them spun on the rims.. they are unroadworthy now but thats after about 50000 kms. dont think they would have worn half as much without the weight in the back. but running 275 tyres might be a bit different/worse? i think its worth it if you like the wheels and like your set up, hopefully theres a wheels place near u that does it? hope this helps mate. cheers westy

cheers for that westy,

I have a 12 bolt chev rear end so the diff does have a fairly decent track still and I hardly use the van due to using a motor bike for daily transport so the the tires should last for a few years i would think. I'll see what I can organise and I'll keep you posted.
