Clance asked about the possibility of a chat room on the new site, and I remember it being discussed and asked for on the old site as well.  Back then it couldnt be done, but with the new site, Shane has said he could set one up if the crazed masses assemble outside his house and demand it.

For any internet novices out there... a chat room would just mean whoever is online can type to each other in a real time conversation without 'posting' on the forums...

The only thing with the chat room is loosing the info. Any questions asked and answered are lost and no record is made. Personally I feel this new forum is fast enough to cater for online q & a and we get to record them.

Thats a good point - I think we would be best, if a chat room goes ahead, to have an unwritten rule that technical info isnt dicussed in any great length in the chat room - its just a chat room for catching up with people and getting to know them, sharing a laugh etc

That's something that I was going to mention, but I forgot

I don't mind setting something up though. I'll have a look around and see what's available and hopefully I can set up some rules that show before you can log in.

A chat room can be fun, but as was said not the best place to ask technical questions, they are more for social interaction (and smutty talk )

Usually there is a log created on your PC, so if you know where it is you can cut and paste any pertinient info into a post.

Chat can stop posts in a thread going off topic due to smart arsed commments, in jokes and such - not that they are nessisarliy bad, but they can be a pain for others to read through to get the info they are looking for.

sxv..have once every couple of months its fun its 3d and its different normally one at xmas and easter I wouldn't go on every week but 2-3 times a year is a good social event.

Are you on dialup? it came up as a "timeout" message which usually means your internet is running too slow to keep up with the chat board

Anyone on a dialup connection may have trouble using the chat room as you may keep timing out with high ping times.

Now we have a flash new site to play on, maybe you should be looking at upgrading to cable or dsl
