I haven't bought the Bedford yet. It has a 173 holden motor, and I am trying to ascertain the year. The rego papers say it is a 1981 model, however it has the metal grill and round headlights. The prefix of the engine number suggests 74-76 According to info re holden engines (assuming it is the original engine.)

I seems to drive okay and I would prefer to drive it home (if I can get the indicators to work). I am also trying to ascertain the year of manufacture in the hope that I can put it on historic rego (30 years or older) as I don't need a ute 24/7 and drive a sedan as my daily driver.

how much do you know about wiring?
in other words if we told you the type of lead to hunt down, etc..

eg extend each indicator wire left/right, an a positive.. touch the positive to the wire an it will light, so you touch it then take it off, touch it, etc.. need a passanger(hence extending the wires.)

cause im a master of a bodge job, if you want to get it home..
how many left an right turns is there?

Thanks for the offers of help guys. I can rewire it ( I am a technician by trade), but the truck is a 2 and a half hour drive away from where I live and if I get a 1 day permit to drive it, I don't want to spend half the day trying to sort out the wiring.

I suppose I can always resort to hand signals.

Tom

why not make a tow board, you know a set of tail lights on a plank of wood and hang from the back of the van, normally they plug into the towing vehicles trailer plug, but in youre case you could make a box up with a fuse, indicator can and switch and some aligator clips to attach it to the battery, you could even add brake lights , make it all up, then when you drive to the van just clip on to power and away you go.

Have the box sitting next to you and just flick a switch to turn or brake.

Then sort it properly when you get home
