Replacing brake master and booster

I want to replace my 1980 CF-250 (front disk brake, rear drum) brake master and booster without having to do modifications. I read I might be able to use HZ, Torana or Ford XY. Can anyone confirm this or does anyone have other suggestions that will work? I would prefer to buy new rather than second hand and have seen quite a few muscle cars have new parts any of them work?

take note of the post by 'ethyl', as he has pointed out several holden car models that are the same booster/ master, that will work for you
i have used the lh torana and its great
little bit of filing and a couple of new pipes, no worries

mind you, i'd like to hear from someone who has tried the ford xy

someone posted ages ago that they had their master cylinder bored out to 1inch (from 3/4¨).
that would require the least mods, would´t it?

that sounds interesting, i wonder what they did for the piston and seals needing to be larger
now this got me thinkin'  what have people done when they put disks on the front, can you still use the master that comes standard on the beddy?

Thanks Kav yea I had seen that post before, just could not seem to find it again when I was looking. That link you posted (http://www.buga.bedfordcf.com/funk/thread.php?id=291) does not seem to be working? Did you have any trouble fitting it under the hood?

Hey Worzel I looked into getting the old master bored out like the post said but when I was asking about it no one around me seemed to do it themselves all sent it off to get done elsewhere and looked like it would cost as much or more than replacing it.

sd1 rover are identical to bedford except the ports are on opposite sides and the bore is 15/16, just about 1'', it bolts straight on to the bedford booster, just been down to the garage to look for it so i could post a pic comparing the two but couldn't find it, will have another look tomorrow  :)

you just use the bedford booster, or if you want a bigger booster go with LJ torana booster and master cylinder, the booster fits to existing holes in firewall, you just have to file them out a bit bigger then booster will fit on, there is a bit of clearance prob with bonnet hitting cap on reservoir, i think its just the clip that holds it on, easy fix got sum pics somwere if you need them cheers stevo

yup, might cost as much, but stainless sleeve will last longer and nothing else (linkages, firewall, and tubes) has to be changed.
I´m not saying it´s a good idea, just that it´s worth a look.
that rover sounds easier
