Reco'ed 186 for gas wanted.
« on: August 06, 2009, 11:27:01 AM »
G'day all!
My Knightmare has a slow leaking head gasket and a host of other problems so I'm looking to replace the engine totally!
Anyone got a spare 186 that has been reco'ed for gas (ie: hardened valve seats) for a decent price?

Also looking for the proper diagrams for machining holden disk rotors to bedford bearings.
Any help would be great.

Thanks Mezzmo

I have holidays in September - 19th through to the 25th and I'm planing to take the Kids to Brizvagas to do the theme park thing :D

The current engine we put in is running, but wont idel under 1000 rpm, on a high idle if you pulll the spark plug leads of on numbers 2 & 5 it doesnt change idle, on the others it does. I thought it might be plugs or points so I replaced them and it did improve things abit.

I think  I need to replace the dizzy cap coil and leads to see if that improves things - but the engine is an unkown so I could be waisting my time.

Either that or I bite the bullet and put in a VK fuel injected motor - but thats a whole other set of problems.

hey warren,

have you tried doing a compression test on the motor you have in there now, there not to expensive
to buy a compression tester and could save you spending on things you dont need. plus its a handy tool to have
especially when dealing with old and second hand motors.

just a thought
And you thought owning a bedford was going to be easy.

Hi Warren, i dont have an engine hoist etc but if you want the motor sooner your welcome to come round and rip it out - i've just removed the gas tank and strap so thats all there. Let me know what you want to do. The one thing i did forget is it has a spanking new (reco) starter as well. you lucky devil you!!!
