Rover 3.5 Power Steering
« on: July 31, 2009, 03:35:04 PM »
Hey guys, I just brought a CF for its running gear. Its got power steering off a Rover 3.5. Its great but loses heaps of its turning arc. 1st question is, can I modify it to turn tighter? A guy at Marshall  Transmissions said one possibility (which I can hardly remember!) was changing something near the wheels? Otherwise what is the EXACT LHD Porsche rack I need to hunt down.
Cheers

Its all here guys http://www.bedfordcf.co.uk/powersteering.htm but I have a plate that bolts onto the old mounting point and then the powersteering unit bolts on to that, used Bedford steering coupling just put a linning in it and had it regroved, tirerod arms shortened and re threaded to fit Bedford tirerods. Thats all lose buga all lock.  Also used Holden steering pump.

Hi, had a engineer do the work / make the brackets, cut the tirerod arms and made the new thread and line-regrove the coupling. Then I fitted everything, 3 years ago it cost $360.00 for the work and holden pump $25.00 and Transit Power Steering unit 160.00.  So $545 all up and ofcourse the lines a little bit.

Hey Bas, do you remember if the transit was a VF or  VG. Seems the racks are different :(
