vk efi inlet manifold
« on: June 28, 2009, 06:30:10 PM »
a friend had one sitting there that he bought but didn't use... it has all parts/tubing/fancy saas filter...

he is also giving me a spare lpg gas tank that he is ripping out of a shorty 40.

so here's the thing.

if i go straight gas using two tanks and this vk efi manifold on will i be getting the added power and economy the friend claims?

im reading a mag that claims in a article that if you use this manifold and put a yella terra gas head and a voodoo gas research cam shaft you can get up to 120 hp at the back wheel (up from the standard 65 a red 202 puts out). im not willing to go that far but the friend claims added hp just from the manifold alone.

he also gave me a vk instrument panel... looks in good condition but i was wondering how much work to wire it up in a beddy?

sounds good if it gives u the extra horsepower but bear in mind that a red 202 has different inlet ports to a blue or black 202. so if the vk has the later model motor u will prob need the head to suit the ports.
just trying to save u some greif.

230351445511   on ebay now, looks black 202 to me,

lol, just seen ur pictures of comparison.  nothing a bit of silastic might fix.
marty

p.s. a black or blue 202 head are supposed to be very similar to a red yella terror ie/ bigger valves. , only with the smaller red ports.

that's what im thinking.... or cut and weld the  red face plates onto the vk manifold? save a lot of time with the building up process????

i have to get a few things closed off on there anyway...

maybe you can clear something up for me while your in the mood to part with knowledge....

do i still need a charcoal canister and all that anti pollution crap if im straight gas? the friend was saying i can rip it all out?

rather than weld the manifold id try puttin a vk head on, im sure they fit,
but get a few opinions anyway.
should be heaps better then a red yella terror as it will have the bigger inlet ports,
ull never get a red heads ports as big.

to the best of my knowledge the charcoal canister is for petrol only,
best check with a gas conversion place though.

G'day

What is the magazine you are reading?

I run a VK efi manifold on a straight gas setup and I highly recommend it.
I also have a Voodod cam, Yella Terra head, and other goodies. The power is awesome. People think the van is a V8 the way it goes, and how I drive it.

Check out the 2 threads:

Question on lpg dual fuel

There are pictures there of my setup on the second thread.
The problem I have is that most of my stories end with... and that is why I am not allowed to go back there!
