Making an Auto from a 3 speed manual

Hey all...

Well due to some circumstances, i maybe turning my van into an auto (dont ask me what type...it came with the van) and honestly id just like a rough idea of what a local mechanic might charge for such a conversion...

What Engine are you going to run?

was the gearbox attached to the motor?

If its a holden 6 then it will be very simple - heaps of bits and pieces around for them.

red 202, nah it was in the back of the van....

trip to the wrecker will get most of the parts for almost nothing.
hard part is a shifter that is not than 8 inches long and halfway across the van

kirk do it yourself!!!!!!! easy as. proably take you a couple of days for the first time thou:) especially with your job on the line!!

i had autos laying around. i just got rid but im sure i could get them back if need.. at hammers lol.

well mine is i presume still in the van....i did originally give it to Hammers just as a thankyou...but in this instance i think id like it back.

very important!!!!!!!! i almost didnt do it. would have been disaster. apparently you can stuff the whole trany cause no support on the tourque converter.

i have a three speed auto in the shed that came in the back of the beddy.... pits and pieces around it....

was thinking about using it but i went the m20 four speed manual instead. (been driving auto minivans for what seems a lifetime and im sick of auto... makes me feel like a limbless prostitute)

its just sitting there and will go to the tip eventually....

my knowledge was the bush needed to come out completely or there,s no way ud get the torqueconverter to slip into the crankshaft.
every manual ive converted to an auto ive just taken the bush out n chucked it and not put anything back in
