LWB discs
« on: May 26, 2009, 05:00:40 PM »
so am i dreaming?
you get a valiant rotor (why valiant?)

and machine it to fit on a bedford stub (why not holden ???maybe holden calipers wont fit inside 6 stud wheel)
then you get someone clever to make a hub conversion

bolt it all togeather and youŕe off to the engineers for a cert?????? ???

isn't valiant the same as ford?

what about a nissan suv or something for disc's, they are 6 stud
There are so many people out there who will tell you that you can't. What you've got to do is turn around and say "watch me"

yeah, too many options.
just trying to get a tried and tested option because you could spend a long time on testing every rotor.
That sweet LWB that i can't afford used valiant rotors and he had a hub made.
I was at the wrecker today and those six stud drums are HUGE :o,
so depth is not an issue, just getting rotors inside the wheels.
Need to find out if holden will fit as i can use the caliper brackets of the standard disc conversion

G'day

Remember that the Transit has disc brakes and is the same 6 stud pattern.

The 1984 lwb Transit has ventiated discs.
The problem I have is that most of my stories end with... and that is why I am not allowed to go back there!

G'day

Here are some photos to rev up the discussion.
I was told that the Transit disc setup could be fitted to a CFL, however the offsets look wrong.
Maybe the CFL hub can be machined to have a setup something like the 1984 Transit.

Standard Bedford Drum Brake:

Early Transit solid disc front end. The van had a Falcon 6 motor and single wheel rear end:

1984 Transit ventilated disc. The van had a Falcon 6 motor and dual wheel rear end:

is the bedford drum deeper than the transit rotor ?
if so then a spacer would bring it out enough?
Without one of each on stub axles there's not much i can work out.
Will have to try JB's in dandenong, he does transits and bedfords,

Phoned JB,
yeah sure no problem i can tell you.
Transit have smaller studs, but same pattern. didn't know about drilling to bedford studs.
He says he can give the bearing no. to bolt straight on, ???
Rotors $110 s/h each
Calipers $220 each (2 pot)
Make your own mounting plate.
Can't understand why no-one does it.

Still not sure, bound to be a few glitches on the way

Hmmmm, now all i need is a six stud LWB with a Hwy diff ;D
Anyone wanna swap a SWB with discs and diff?
Hardly ever gives any trouble ::)

G'day

Did JB happen to say which model Transit discs he uses?
