202 Question
« on: May 24, 2009, 10:44:00 AM »
Hello everyone, My name is Roy and I am a Vauxhall enthusiast from the UK. I am also a big fan of the older model Opels and Holdens. During the sixties Vauxhall built the Cresta PC with a 3.3 engine Does anybody know if the VX engine is the same as a Holden 202 Red motor? I believe the Cresta was imported to your neck of the woods in smallish numbers.
I have been unable to find a picture of the engine, except for this installed one.
This is the car

And this is the engine

I realise I'm being a bit cheeky asking a question as my first post but I want to buy some tuning parts off your ebay,( head, manifolds, carbs, ect but I'm not sure if it will fit.
Regards from sunny Manchester......not!

Heres a link to a guy on a British forum who's building a modified CF........enjoy.

The NZ boys would be able to tell you for sure but from what I remember they are different engines with different bores different stroke and different bits, The only thing they share is displacement of 3.3 litres.

G'day

Welcome aboard.
The motor looks similiar, but I googled a couple of photos of a PC motor and there are significant differences. The inlet manifild shows round ports for a start.
I think your motor may be based on a Chev straight 6.
The 202 was not released in Australia until 1971, well after the PC.

The problem I have is that most of my stories end with... and that is why I am not allowed to go back there!

Thanks for the info, guys. The Brit engine must be based on the Chevvy  stovebolt 6. Ah well never mind, I'll have to go to plan B, fitting a 3ltr 24v unit from a Opel Senator with matching 4speed auto. 200bhp straight out of the box, 230bhp with a bit of mild modding.
