I Love my Bedford!
« on: May 17, 2009, 11:21:53 AM »
I love my beddy! I've been living in this old girl for about 6 months now, in Mackay, and she is fantastic, comfortable and just like a real home.
I still haven't quite finished it all off yet but the plumbing is done and the fridge now works on both gas and 240v! yaaa.
I've taken her for trips to big parties and had a ball, battle of the bands was a great one ended up staying for two nights.

I LOVE my Beddy!

The problem I have is that most of my stories end with... and that is why I am not allowed to go back there!

Chris

I asked Clance that ages ago, and I think from memory they are of evilbay, the tacho is a late model one Like This but the speedo was from a 70's or 80's SA cop car (also found on ebay) he said he had to search for ages for the speedo - but yeah real neat for a standard franed dash.

Joel has a similar, but more extensive Set Up

From some PM's

The gauges are Autometer Brand, American Platinum Series.
Starting from left to right: Clock, Fuel, Oil Pressure, Water Temp, Tacho, Speedo, Volt (Start Battery), Volt (House Battery).

Speedo is Electric with a converter attached to the Transmission, saves running the usual spinning cable up to the dash. I brought them directly from the USA as the prices here in NZ were ridiculous, I saved about $900 NZ dollars shipping them myself.

The Converter is also made by Autometer, mechanical to electric Hall Effect Sender, you'll be able to pick them up in Aussie no worries I imagine. Just 3 Wires, easy as.
Yeah that's the way to go, as you don't want to have to remove your dash to get to the back of the gauges & wiring. Multi plugs do the trick. I'm in the process of now putting multiple plugs from the dash to the fuse boxes & senders etc. So it's all big 6-8 wire plugs to disconnect anything & everything.
