building a 4wd beddy

hi guys im thinking of building a 4wd beddy and wondered if anyone has seen or no of a toyota landcruiser chassis being used?like an 80 series for example.any info would be appreciated.cheers furio

no, but a few guys have used f100 running gear and a few months ago a guy overhear used a f100 graft with a diesel setup.

If he still has it  for sale ill ask him for more details.

just out of curiosity.. when people convert to 4wd on their beddies do they just bolt a chassis under the orig incorporated chassis???

cause that doesnt sound that hard ay!!

I'm assuming one would just drop it onto a Hilux like they did with Statesmans and panelvans. But would be interested to know. You'd never have to leave the Beddy at home again, how sweet.

I think those pictures above use the standard frame/chassis, taking out the front end and replace it with the front diff, replace the gearbox with one with a tranfer case, tailshafts made to fit, and maybe i different type of steering box.

The hard thing is the width of the Beddy...

One of the widest diffs out there is an F100 diff. F100 4wd setups are not that hard to track down.
Those old trucks rust out badly and there is often someone selling an old 4wd F100 at a good price.

I have thought about it but questioned how much you would really need the 4wd?
After all, are you going to go for a serious 4wd in your baby? Not me...

Keep an eye out on ebay for a 70's model F100 4wd, I have seen a few in the last couple of months.

If it was me I would grab the front and rear diff, the transmission setup and that's it...
I would then graft it all into the Beddy.
